This year, the Rocky College Student Film Festival, presented by the Princeton Student Entertainment Network, will be bigger and better than ever!

This year’s Princeton Film Week will take place 24 February – 2 March. We at PSEN are still working on putting together more lectures and other events, but we’re excited to announce the festival’s two flagship events right now: the first ever PSEN 48-Hour Film Project (24–26 February), and the RockyFilmFest (2 March).

48H

This year introduces 48H, a brand new event brought to you by PSEN! At the 48-Hour Film Project, taking place the weekend of 24–26 February, you’ll get a chance to make your own film masterpiece. The event starts Friday night, when participants will gather in the Rocky/Mathey Theater at 11PM to get into their film crews and learn the rules. At midnight, writers will draw their script prompts and then we’re off! Writers will spend the whole night developing short film screenplays based on random prompts like “A patriotic zombie founds a school for belly dance in the 1950s.” At 10AM on Saturday morning, directors, producers, and actors will meet up with their crew’s writer, receive the screenplay, and spend the day filming. Sunday, crews will wrap up filming and spend the day editing, submitting their finished product to us by midnight. All the films made during 48H will be screened the next weekend, Friday 2 February, at the RockyFilmFest.

Want to be a part of 48H? Of course you do! Well, all you’ve gotta do is fill out a two-minute, online form to let us know who you are and what roles you’re interested in, so we can put together film crews. To guarantee a spot in 48H, please fill out the online form here by 20 February at 11:59PM.

[Note: 48H is open to Princeton University undergraduate students only.]

RockyFilmFest

PSEN is excited to organize RockyFilmFest again this year. This event is a night of original films by Princeton students, followed by an awards ceremony. This year’s screening will take place Friday 2 March at 8PM in the Rocky/Mathey Theater. We got a lot of awesome submissions last year and we’re hoping for even more this time around. We’re looking for original student works of about 5 to 10 minutes, narrative or documentary. For more detailed information, check the Film Festival website here [new website coming soon!].

To guarantee a spot in the Film Festival, please indicate your interest by filling out this online form by 17 January at 11:59PM. (We’ll need to receive your video submission by 15 February.)

RockyFilmFest 2012 will also include a screenplay contest. Send us an original screenplay, produced or not, and we’ll select the best to receive an award at the screening ceremony. To participate in that, fill out this form by 15 February.

[Note: RockyFilmFest is open to all members of the Princeton University community.]
